WELCOME TO ALPHASIM

News, Releases, Updates

July 1st

Now available for FSX - the AS365N Dauphin ! One of Aerospatiale's finest designs, the Dauphin found roles in both the civilian and military spheres, acting as a reliable VIP transport as well as a well-equipped lifesaver in the SAR and MedEvac roles. AlphaSim's package includes both the earlier N1 version as well as the modified N2, each in VIP transport and MedEvac guises. One thing the Dauphin is known for is the variety of colourful paint schemes which were applied to its sleek lines, our model set does not disappoint here, there are no less than eight colourful texture sets (including a fictional US Coast Guard one), with matching interior colours. The models feature different interior fittings for VIP and MedEvac, the latter sporting a working winch on the N2 version. The FSX is as usual where the model looks its best, self-shadowing and bump mapping adding to the appreciation of the Dauphin's classic shape. FSX also adds some more detail, including a third crew member in the MedEvac version and added v-c detailing in all versions. A superb set of Dauphin sounds by Adriano Martoni is included with both sim versions, these reproduce that special Dauphin whirring to a tee. Both FS9 and FSX-specific flight models make the Dauphin a pleasure to fly. 6 months in development, this is a great package for both beginners and conessieurs alike. Owners of the FS9 version can get the FSX version FREE, just go back to your account area and access the Dauphin's download area.
For FS2004 AND FSX (unique packages, FSX NOT a portover). Filesize : FS9 70MB, FSX 48MB.
Price : approx. $32 USD, £19.95, 22.75 EUR, 40 AUD

Now available for FSX ! The HU-16B Albatross. The classic amphibian has been recreated with seven unique models and twelve texture sets, with options for 'weathered' or 'factory fresh' versions, bringing the total variations to sixteen. Full SP1/SP2/Acceleration compatibility is gauranteed, with all FSX features such as bump-mapping and self-shadowing used to full effect. The bump-mapping and reflectivity cause the great many lines of rivets in the aircraft skin catch the light and make for a near-photographic look. AlphaSim's 'RealGauge' tech is used throughout the detailed v-c to provide silky smooth gauge movement, and after dark the user has the choice between cabin or direct gauge lighting and the flick of a switch - all the normal functions are present and mousable in the cockpit, custom views allow different and useful perspectives. A truly outstanding sounds package by TSS brings the Albatross radials to life, a good subwoofer is recommended for the visceral bass rumble ! Flight dynamics have been expertly crafted to provide a very authentic experience, with no nasty suprises. Water take-offs and landings are simple, the sim provides nice spray, wake and wallowing effects. Often overlooked in the sim world in favour of the 'other' well-known amphibian, the classic Albatross finally makes its appearance - in startling, state-of-the-art form.
For FSX only. Filesize : 180MB. Self-installing .exe.
Price : approx. $35.99 USD, £23.25, 26.50 EUR, 46.75 AUD

Progress update for the new Sepecat Jaguar! Pack One is nearing completion, as you can see in the screenshots below. This first product will cover the Royal Air Force variants and other related users, such as Nigeria and Equador. Later packages will cover the French AF and the 2-seaters. All are aimed squarely at FS2004, but we are confident a good quality FSX portover will be possible. Some shots of the amazing VC will be shown soon!

New FSX update for the B-1B Lancer! Our previous FSX portover version had problems with the cockpit glazing in SP2, this has been resolved in version 1.2. We have also made the bomb bay doors work on 2nd Exit command, the crew figures can also be toggled on water rudder. Ver.1.2 also works in SP1 FSX, you don't need SP2 to get the new changes. Existing owners of the B-1B just need to log in to their account area and they can download the new FSX version. Pre- Jan '06 purchasers can send us an e-mail with either an order number or the e-mail address used at the time of purchase, or street address. We'll then link them to the B-1B download area.

FEBRUARY 25th

Now available for FSX: the C-7 Caribou! The Caribou package has now been properly ported over to FSX (the original port-over had problems, especially in SP2, but these have now been fixed). Note, as an FS9-to-FSX portover, there are no FSX special features such as bump-mapping or self-shadowing. However, for an older model it does look good and flies well. There are no reported issues with SP2 either. Pilots are now togglable with the "water rudder" key. Existing owners of the Caribou just need to log in to their account area to download the FSX version. Pre- Jan '06 customers can contact us with either an order number, e-mail address used at the time of purchase, or street address. We'll then forward a link to download the C-7.

New update package added to the USA section: the A-3 Skywarrior! AlphaSim's 2005 release of the Skywarrior was long overdue for a makeover, so here is an extensive updated package for this versatile US Navy Cold War jet. Please note - this is NOT a new release as such, we have taken the 2005 model and improved and extended it in many ways, but the essential 'style' is still 2003 FS2004 and should not be confused with an all-new FSX release. The very favourable pricing of this large model package reflects this. Here's the package in full:

SIX model variants: A-3B, EA-3B, KA-3B, RA-3B, EKA-3B and ERA-3B.
THIRTEEN texture sets (yes, 13!) All by Pierre Lheureux and very detailed.
Soundset now included.
Original 2005 VC, but gauges are now direct-mapped (no gauge 'floating').
Crew are now togglable.
Leading edge slats now operate automatically, distinct from flaps.
KA models have extendable refuelling hose.
Improved VC glazing textures.
New cockpit overhead escape hatch.
Wing spoilers now correctly animated as spoilerons.
VC now includes all external model parts which would be visible.
Automatic smoke and wingtip vortex FX.
Tailhook lever in v-c now mousable.

For FS2004 only. Filesize : 44MB
Price : approx. $20 USD, £13.50, 15 EUR, 28.50 AUD
